What is digital citizenship?
A person who develops the skills and knowledge to effectively use the
Internet and other digital technology, especially in order to participate

A digital citizen refers to a person utilizing information technology (IT) in order to engage in society, politics, and government. K. Mossberger, et al. define digital citizens as "those who use the Internet regularly and effectively". (Wikipedia, 2018)

Why is digital citizenship important in school?Digital Citizenship is a 21st Century skill that needs to be taught in schools so that students can be more responsible in a digital age. Many tools that students have access to as a part of their education are digital; therefore students need to be taught how to use these tools respectfully and responsibly just as they are taught topics in ELA, Math, Science and SS.
